Welcome to Year 5!

We are an enthusiastic and dedicated team and are very much looking forward to working with the Year 5 children on many exciting topics and activities during the coming year.

We will begin this term with a focus on English, Reading and Maths along with the other National Curriculum subjects. The children will have the opportunity to discuss in PSHE Lessons emotions and mindfulness as well as strategies for developing resilience. 

In Year 5, children strive to become more independent learners, full of determination and resilience. This is supported through daily challenges and PSHE lessons. We encourage all children to do their very best and expect everyone to take some responsibility in order to make progress and achieve.

Children are given spellings to practise and they are expected to read as often as possible and we hope to develop a love of reading. Children will be rewarded with certificates and badges for reading. It’s also imperative that children ensure they have learnt and are confident in their times tables so they are ready to access our exciting curriculum.
