In Year 2 we encourage the children to take on extra responsibility to set a good example to the younger children and we aim to develop independence, creativity and happy individuals.

We teach a topic approach and cover a range of interesting and engaging subjects. At the end of Year 2, the children undertake SATs to help identify next steps for the beginning of Key Stage 2. A part of our curriculum in the summer helps prepare the children for the transition to Key Stage 2.

The children have the opportunity to participate in Forest School regularly and have regular external PE coaches supporting the lessons in addition to beginning weekly swimming lessons at GL1. The children also have regular opportunities to take part in PE festivals with other schools in the community, for example the dance shows, cross country and tennis.
